Race Report: Caceres, Spain 2017

Competing in the Grand Premio Caceres Senior Men’s Race in Spain, Alex Tueten representing England scored his best International performance when finishing 3rd in a time of 31.00 over the 10 Km course around the Talayuela Golf course. With the rain lashing down for his race, Tueten chased hard after El Hassan Elabassi, of Bahrain  who won in 30.18 while Phillip Kipyego, of Uganda took 2nd in 30.40. Behind the front three, Patrick Dever, placed 8th in 31,47, Jack Goodwin 9th in 31.50 and Alex Brecker 11th in a time of 31.55.

In the Senior Women’s race over 8.6 Km, Ruth Jebet, formally of Kenya but now Bahrain continued her good form to win in 28:07. In 2nd place came Trihas Gebre, running for Bilbao Atletismo timed at 28.30 while 3rd came Bontu Rebitu, also of Bahrain in 29,26. Leading English runner was Kate Holt 5th in 29:58 while Hannah Walker was 6th in the same time of 29:58, Juliet Potter complete the trio of English runners placing 11th with a time of 30:31.

The English Juniors dominated their races. In the Junior Women’s race Niamh Brown, was the winner in 18:38, Sophie Tarver, took 2nd in a time of 18:42, 3rd came Kirsty Walker, with 8:43 and  Katy Whiteoak, was home 4th in 19:16. In the  Junior Men’s race that followed again there was a 1.2.3.4. This time Hugo Milner, secured the win in 22:30 then came Archie Rayner, with 22:55 from Thomas Mortimer, 23:50 and Jake Berry, in a time was 24:10.

Again all good performances helping to develop athletes for the the Championships races ahead and for the future.
