Another bumper entry for this year’s Cross Country Relays

Entries for this years Saucony English Cross Country Relays have closed and another bumper entry has been received. This is the 33rd time the Relays have been staged, having started in 1985 at Crystal Palace when just youths, juniors and senior men’s races took place. Now there are 10 events on the programme and the venue, Berry Hill Park, Mansfield plays host for the 30th consecutive year.

For the 13th time over 1000 team entries have been received and a record number of 170 Senior Women’s teams have been entered.

All the other age groups have received large entries with the following:

Under 13 Girls 118
Under 13 Boys 127
Under 15 Girls 129
Under 15 Boys 126
Under 17 Women 91
Under 17 Men 115
Junior Women 57
Junior Men 78
Senior Men 207

The tight and twisty course over the varied terrain generates a great atmosphere and competition is always intense. The laps of 2K for the younger age groups and up to 5K for the Senior Men are a good start for the early part of the season and how the Clubs run their teams means that there are many different leaders at the end of each leg which creates much excitement.

To help with smooth running of the event on the day and to make sure we have enough parking please could clubs let the ECCA know if they are coming by Coach or large Minibus, by emailing admin@englishcrosscountry.co.uk with the information.
