Elgoibar International, Jan ’20

In glorious Winter Sunshine, the ECCA fielded runners at the annual Elgoibar, Cross Country event in Northern Spain, having also sent Teams to Stirling for the Home Countries International on the same weekend.

The 3 Senior Women, 2 Under 20 Women and 1 Senior Man representing England acquitted themselves well in top class fields.

In the Senior Women’s event Helen Obiri led the field home in 25.10 and the first 4 places in this race went to Kenyan runners. The England team athletes however ran well with Kate Holt 6th in 26.51, Lauren Hall on her debut in an England vest  8th and Eleanor Bolton another England  debutee at cross country 13th.

The Under 20 Women also had a good day with Lauren McNeil 3rd in a time of 16.50 and Kate O’Neill, 8 secs back in 4th spot, the race being won by Lia Lemos of Portugal in a time of 16.26.

The 1 Senior Man in action was Zak Mohammed a winner last year in the Under 20 race, stepping up to Senior action this time Zak came home 15th in 35.45 in an international class field.
